The Incredible Hulk #323
In "Certain Intangibles," Bruce Banner lies unconscious in a hospital while the Hulk, defeated by the Avengers, begins to fade into nothingness—his form dissolving as the rift between man and monster proves fatal. With time running out, Rick Jones calls the Vision, who leaves his pregnant wife to help, merging himself intangibly with Bruce to stabilize him and shrink him enough to reach the fallen Hulk. The Vision’s desperate attempt to reunite the two forces pushes him to the brink as the Hulk awakens, struggling to reclaim control—only a heartfelt plea from Betty Draper prevents him from being trapped forever within the Hulk’s body. With Bruce lying in a hospital and the Hulk felled by the Avengers, the two of them begin to expand and become intangible as the separation of man and monster is killing them. Rick calls the Vision who agrees to leave his pregnant wife to help. Vision becomes intangible himself and merges with Bruce, turning him solid enough and small enough to make the trek to the fallen Hulk. The Vision merges Bruce back into the Hulk but struggles to free himself as the Hulk wakes up and tries to take over. Only a plea from Betty allows the Vision to escape Hulk's body.
