“Shootout in Scragg's Saloon!”

"Shootout in Scragg's Saloon!" delivers a poignant Western tale from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with Dick Ayers' inks adding grit to the action. When Old Ben clings to a fading memory of a lost son, Rawhide’s loyalty is tested—only to face betrayal and a deadly ambush. Gil Kane’s striking cover captures the tension, while the story unfolds with quiet heart, leaving the truth of Ben’s final moments hauntingly unresolved.

Old Ben is always talking about a long-lost son. When Rawhide defends him from a bully, Ben insists the Kid is his son. Spade and his friend try to kill Rawhide to collect his reward, but Ben sees them and takes a bullet for the Kid. The Kid defeats the gunmen and takes Ben to a doctor, comforting the old man as he dies. The doctor reveals Ben never had a son - it was all a delusion.
