The Monarchy #8 from WildStorm's December 2001 lineup delivers one of the more visually striking covers of the year — a tattooed woman with mirrored goggles, bold red lips, and flowing streaked hair rendered upside-down against a pale sky, with a dirigible hovering behind her. Writer Doselle Young and artist John McCrea — who also handles the cover pencils and inks solo — bring a genuinely stylish energy to "Making the Metropolitan Part Three: Fever." If this cover is any indication, McCrea's bold linework and the series' offbeat sensibility are firing on all cylinders.
