The Monarchy

About the series
In this 12-issue DC series from 2001–2002, writer Doselle Young and artists John McCrea, Dean Ormston, and Warren Pleece crafted a darkly satirical take on superheroics, following a government-sponsored team of misfits whose brutal methods and moral compromises reflected a cynical, post-Watchmen era. A spin-off from the cult-favorite The Authority, The Monarchy pushed the boundaries of DC’s WildStorm imprint with its gritty, character-driven exploration of power and corruption. Though short-lived, it stands as a sharp, unflinching commentary on the cost of heroism in a world that often rewards ruthlessness.
