"There Is No Perfect Crime" tells of a man who attempts to commit the perfect murder of his uncle by rigging a cuckoo clock to fire a gun at exactly 12:15, creating a false alibi with a firecracker's sound to mask the shot. However, detective Vincent Carren discovers that the clock's hands were stuck at midnight, revealing the murderer's deception and leading to his arrest and conviction. The story concludes with the moral that no crime is truly perfect, as the criminal's own cleverness ultimately becomes the instrument of his downfall.
