The Savage Sword of Conan #47
In "The Treasure of Tranicos," Conan—fleeing the Picts—stumbles upon a cavern brimming with gold and a monstrous guardian, setting off a chain of desperate ambitions. With rival pirate captains Strombanni and Zarono arriving on the coast and the Zingarian noble Valenso fearing the return of the Stygian sorcerer Thoth-Amon, the stage is set for a clash of greed, fear, and fate. The story unfolds with the full force of Robert E. Howard’s mythos, reimagined by Roy Thomas and L. Sprague de Camp, and brought to life through Gil Kane and John Buscema’s dynamic art, with Joe Rosen’s sharp lettering and Joe Rubinstein and Rick Bryant’s powerful inks. The cover by Earl Norem captures the tale’s dark, primal urgency.
