The Vigilante #3
In "Hunt!", the Vigilante tracks down Stryker, a man responsible for a brutal attack that shattered J.J.'s fiancée and left her broken. When Cyborg of the Teen Titans intervenes, the confrontation escalates into a tense chase that ends with the Vigilante wounding Cyborg—but not before forcing Stryker to confess. Written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by Keith Pollard, with inks by Pablo Marcos, colors by Anthony Tollin, and letters by Gaspar Saladino, this 1984 issue captures a pivotal moment in Adrian's moral struggle. The cover, by Keith Pollard, shows the Vigilante in silhouette, gun raised, against a stark urban backdrop.

Vigilante hunts down a man who once beat up J.J. and brutalized his fiance, causing her to lose her mind. Cyborg of the Teen Titans gets involved when the authorities learn that Stryker is the Vigilante's intended target. After a lengthy running battle, Vigilante gets the drop on Cyborg and shoots him through the shoulder. As he prepares to kill Stryker, however, he finds that he is unable to pull the trigger and instead coerces a lengthy confession out of the criminal. Returning to base, Adrian and J.J. talk about the situation and both agree that murder is not justice.
