Issue eight of Warren Ellis and Jon Davis-Hunt's ambitious 24-part WildStorm reconstruction arrives with one of 2017's most striking science-fiction cover images: a massive, egg-shaped alien structure — scarred with alien script and ringed with mechanical detail — rises on a slender stalk above a barren alien landscape, while smaller versions of the same strange towers recede into the distance beneath two planetary bodies hanging in a hazy sky. Jon Davis-Hunt's linework and Steve Buccellato's muted, rust-toned palette give the scene an unsettling grandeur that feels genuinely otherworldly.
