Corky hangs himself. Tony quits the team. Hal Jordan uses his ring to send Rip, Cave and Jeff back to the Atlantis of 45,000 B.C. where they meet its lord, Arion. As a result of saving Arion's daughter Kara from an earthquake, Rip is imbued by Arion with all his knowledge of Vandal Savage. He tells the team that since Savage arrived in Atlantis a few hundred years ago, the realm is on a steep decline. Though Arion warns Rip not to commit violent acts, Rip disregards this and jumps into the time sphere to confront Savage and disappears. The sphere returns minutes later - empty.
