Transformers / G.I. Joe #1
This volume collects the first six issues of the 2004 Dreamwave crossover series, which pits the Autobots and Decepticons against the forces of G.I. Joe and Cobra in a shared universe. The story explores the origins of both factions and their escalating conflict, with the fate of Earth hanging in the balance as old enemies forge new alliances.
In 1938, Major Bludd’s discovery in the Fera Islands awakens a long-buried threat—the Decepticons—setting off a chain of destruction that echoes into the next year. By 1939, the U.S. has formed G.I. Joe to counter Cobra’s growing power, but when the two forces join forces in a deadly alliance, the Joes launch a desperate assault on the Fera Islands, igniting a brutal clash that reshapes the course of the war.
In the shadow of war on the Fera Islands, a desperate band of surviving G.I. Joes awaken dormant Autobots, their sudden reactivation triggered by a distant satellite scan. As Ironhide stirs to life and Optimus Prime seeks uneasy truce with the human soldiers, a brutal clash between Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow ignites a personal vendetta forged in fire and betrayal. Meanwhile, Decepticon tensions simmer as Cobra’s forces mobilize, and Grimlock stands firm against Wild Weasel’s assault—just as the fragile balance of power begins to fracture.
In "Chapter Three: Trial by Fire," the G.I. Joe team and the Autobots stand united on the Fera Islands, facing off against Cobra and the Decepticons in a high-stakes clash. As Flint leads his squad through the chaos, tensions rise when Zartan slips into their ranks, and Snake-Eyes battles Ravage—only to be drawn into a deadly confrontation with Stormshadow. Meanwhile, Megatron faces Cobra Commander in a shocking moment of confrontation, and the call to arms echoes across the battlefield as Rumble charges Roadblock and Grimlock.
In "Chapter Four: Wolves," Flint uncovers Zartan’s true identity but is quickly captured, leaving Beach Head to take command and hunt for a control tower to call in the fleet. As the battle rages, Superion rescues Grimlock, Snake-Eyes narrowly survives a deadly clash with Stormshadow, and Destro teams up with Starscream to activate Bruticus—while Beach Head is ambushed by Frenzy and Lady Jaye is spotted in the chaos.
In "Chapter Five: Trenches," the lines between Cobra and the G.I. Joes blur as captured allies face brutal interrogation and the battlefield erupts with high-stakes combat. With Snake-Eyes pushing through relentless assaults, Flint under duress, and the Autobots joining the fray, the surviving Joes and Transformers must navigate a collapsing front where every move could cost a life.
In "Chapter Six: The Iron Fist," the Joes and Autobots push toward the Terrordrome, racing against dwindling hope as they fight to free enslaved civilians. Amid shifting loyalties, Lady Jaye reveals her true identity and takes down Zartan, while Bruticus is unleashed—leading to a cascade of betrayals, including the Baroness shooting Starscream and executing Cobra Commander. As Optimus Prime and Megatron clash over the Matrix, Snake-Eyes makes a desperate move that shatters it, deactivating every Transformer and bringing the war to an abrupt, uncertain close.
