“Counterpoint”

"Counterpoint" in *Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5* (2012, IDW) delivers a gripping, character-driven moment as Shockwave rallies Decepticons on Cybertron, reminiscing on Megatron’s past glory and preparing for his rumored "second coming." Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus and Kup confront Optimus Prime about Soundwave’s unsettling actions, only for Prime to calmly suggest the unrest will fade once Megatron’s return—expected or not—comes and goes. The story unfolds through layered flashbacks that trace the entire Marvel Comics *Transformers* series, revealing Soundwave’s long game beginning with the destruction of the Last Autobot. Written by Simon Furman and illustrated by Andrew Wildman, with inks by Stephen Baskerville, colors by John-Paul Bove, and letters by Chris Mowry, the issue’s cover by Andrew Wildman captures the tension in a stark, evocative composition.

Shockwave leads a group of Decepticons on Cybertron talking about the glory years under Megatron, and to be ready for his 'second coming'. Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus and Kup confront Optimus Prime about Soundwave's actions, and Prime tells them not to worry, that all of this will pass over once Megatron's 'second coming' comes and goes without his reappearance. In between, we're given the entire series run as flashbacks (from Marvel Comics), as Soundwave begins his plan, starting with the destruction of the Last Autobot.
