“Track”

"Track" delivers a sharp, satirical take on political maneuvering in a 1964 issue of Treasure Chest of Fun and Fact, where a senator’s downfall begins with a public fall and a child’s accidental shove. Written by Berry Reece and brought to life with crisp, expressive art by Joe Sinnott, the story follows a web of backroom strategizing, polling, and surprise candidates—centered on a senator who’s suddenly eyeing a New Hampshire run, only to find himself up against a vice-president with deep local roots. The cover, by Fran Matera, captures the story’s blend of humor and tension with a bold, dynamic scene.

The president sees Senator Oilengass yelling and screaming at little Angie for causing his fall and decides to withdraw his support of the senator. Sen.O. spies on Pettigrew's party and hears they will hire Gus Gallipoli as their pollster. Sen.O. beats them to Gallipoli, so they hire Lasso as pollster to find out if Pettigrew can win New Hampshire. It turns out Oilengass didn't run in NH, because Gallipoli's poll showed he would lose. So now, he'll be running against Matt Fizz, the vice-president, who happens to be from NH. They feel Pettigrew hasn't a chance.
