Ultimate Astonishing X-Men #[nn]
In "Once More with Feeling," the X-Men stand at the edge of extinction, with Apocalypse's reign over a dying world forcing Magneto and his team to fight for a future that may not exist. When Bishop arrives with a shocking truth—that this reality is a fragile illusion born from Charles Xavier’s untimely death—and Blink and Sunfire report that Apocalypse has unleashed Holocaust once more, the team prepares for a mission that may be their final stand. Written by Scott Lobdell and brought to life with bold, dynamic art by Joe Madureira, the cover by Madureira and Tim Townsend captures the weight of a world on the brink.

Apocalypse rules the world and Magneto and his X-Men are the last bastion of hope for a rapidly dying humanity. To complicate things, the stranger, Bishop, has arrived and told Magneto that this reality is false and solely due to the untimely death of Charles Xavier in the past. As the X-Men discuss this conundrum, Blink and Sunfire arrive at X-Mansion and tell their teammates that Apocalypse has once again begun culling human beings through his agent, Holocaust. The X-Men prepare to face Holocaust and bid their farewells, realizing that this mission is most likely of the suicide variety.
