“Underworld Part One”

"Underworld Part One" kicks off a gritty, high-stakes tale in 2006 with the return of Jackie Dio, a hardened ex-con fresh out of The Cage after a decade behind bars. Written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Staz Johnson, with inks by Tom Palmer and colors by Ian Hannin, the story plunges into a dangerous underworld where old grudges resurface and power shifts are deadly. The cover by Sean Harrison Scoffield captures the tension of a man stepping back into a world that’s changed—especially when his past tormentor, now known as Mr. Pain, is in charge.

After ten years in the prison known as The Cage, tough guy Jackie Dio is released and ready to get back in the game. The only problem is that his old boss, Silvermane, is slowly dying in his bed and the mob boss currently in charge, The Owl, is employing Mr. Pain as his right hand man. Mr. Pain used to be a low level flunky named Vincent and Jackie used his face as a punching bag from time to time. Unfortunately for our boy Jackie, Vince is now a mountain of muscle with a bad attitude.
