“Underworld Part Two”

In "Underworld Part Two," Jackie Dio returns from a decade in prison, eager to leave his past behind and start fresh—only to be brutally reminded that the criminal world doesn’t forget. Now working under Vince, the hulking Mr. Pain, Jackie is beaten down and left reeling, but not before catching a whisper of the Consultant, a shadowy figure guiding the city’s most dangerous minds. Written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Staz Johnson, with inks by Tom Palmer and colors by Ian Hannin, this issue deepens the mystery of the Underworld’s hidden architects—while keeping Jackie’s true ambitions firmly rooted in survival, not villainy. The cover by Sean Harrison Scoffield captures the grit and tension of a man on the edge.

Ten years ago, Vince set Jackie Dio up and a little interference by Spider-Man ensured that Jackie would go to prison for a good long time. Now, Jackie is trying to get a job with the Owl but Vince is his right hand man, now a mountain of muscle known as Mr. Pain. Jackie gets the stuffing beat out of him. As he is recovering, he hears the name of the Consultant, a mastermind who helps super villains in their chose career path, for the second time. But Jackie doesn't want to be a super villain, just a simple wise guy with a killer rep.
