Walt Disney's Comics #292
In "Riding the Pony Express," Carl Barks delivers a classic adventure as Donald Duck and his nephews join a reenactment of the historic Pony Express—only to find themselves in a real-life race against time when Donald unknowingly takes on a vital mission with secret government mail. With Barks handling every aspect of the interior art and storytelling, this 1971 issue captures the spirit of old-western thrills, while Tony Strobl’s cover pencils and Larry Mayer’s inks bring the action to life on the front.

Donald and his nephews volunteer to assist with the replaying of the pony express with Donald delivering the mail. The mail is planned to be fake, but Donald encounters a crashed plane and agrees to urgently deliver real government mail containing secret documents for the pilot. Unfortunately, the others involved in the pony express replay are not aware of Donald carrying real mail and proceed to ambush Donald at the pass as part of the reenactment.
