Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #513

Dec 1986 · Gladstone · 0.75 USD; 1.00 CAD
“Donald's Happy Birthday”

In "Donald's Happy Birthday," Carl Barks delivers a delightfully chaotic tale where Gyro Gearloose is roped into a bizarre royal contest to tame a wild bear—just so he can be crowned "King of Luck" by the whimsical Royal Order of Horeshoe Kids. Despite his best intentions and a hastily invented repellent, things quickly spiral as the bear proves more unpredictable than expected, leaving Gyro’s long-awaited Gyroburger lunch in jeopardy. With Carl Barks handling every aspect of the interior art and lettering, and Daan Jippes bringing the festive chaos to life on the cover, this 1986 issue is a classic slice of Disney comic charm.

Gladstone recruits Gyro to help him barehandedly tame a wild bear so that he will be crowned "King of Luck" by the Royal Order of Horeshoe Kids. Despite the fact that all he wants to do is enjoy his Gyroburger lunch, a hesitant but obliging Gyro invents a repellent that keeps the bear subdued. Complications arise with the bear, and Gyro never does get to have his long-anticipated lunch.
