There is an impenetrable force field surrounding Utopia and a portal in the middle of it pouring out Nimrod Sentinels. The Nimrods savagely tear through the X-Men and badly injure a number of them. With the carnage showing no signs of abating, Cyclops decides to send Cable and X-Force into the future to deal with the source of the Sentinels directly. The only problem is that Cable's time travel unit only has one charge left in it so Cyclops is essentially sending his own son and his closest friends into exile and death.
