With four of the X-Men and two of the FF on a space station battling the Brood, back on Earth, Reed discovers that a cosmic storm is heading directly towards the heroes. In the Brood Queen's chamber, a few of the astronauts are found alive but infected with the aliens. Sue refuses to kill them, but the heroes do leave them behind when they flee the space station to avoid the deadly cosmic rays heading their way. They don't make it and are bathed in cosmic radiation as they crash back to Earth.
