About the series
From 1953 to 1960, Archie Comics published eight issues of Archie's Pal Jughead Annual, a spin-off spotlighting the burger-loving, crown-wearing icon of Riverdale. Anchored by the reliably humorous scripts of Frank Doyle and the distinctive, expressive art of Samm Schwartz, Bill Vigoda, and Harry Lucey, these oversized annuals gave Jughead Jones, his pal Archie Andrews, and the rest of the gang—including Betty Cooper, Reggie Mantle, and Moose Mason—plenty of room for extra slapstick and scheming. A fun, lighthearted snapshot of the Silver Age Archie style, the series gave Jughead his own annual stage long before his solo monthly took off.
