Cat-Man Comics
Temerson / Helnit / Continental · 1941–1946 · 22 issues
About the series
From 1941 to 1946, Cat-Man Comics was a spirited, short-lived superhero title published by a trio of small Golden Age houses—Temerson, Helnit, and Continental—that followed the adventures of the costumed crimefighter David Merrywether (the Cat-Man) and his young sidekick, Katie Conn (the Kitten). Primarily written by Charles M. Quinlan Jr. and illustrated by his father, Charles M. Quinlan Sr., along with Rudy Palais, the series is a charming artifact of the era’s rush to imitate Batman’s success, distinguished by its family-run creative team and its obscure, scrappy energy. Though it lasted only 22 issues, it remains a cult curiosity for collectors of pre-Code superhero oddities.
