Combat Kelly
Marvel · 1972–1973 · 9 issues
About the series
In the early 1970s, Marvel Comics gave readers a gritty, war-torn glimpse into the life of a lone American soldier with Combat Kelly. This nine-issue series, primarily written by Gary Friedrich and featuring the bold artwork of Dick Ayers and John Romita, followed the titular character through the brutal realities of the battlefield. A departure from Marvel's more fantastical heroes, it offered a grounded, human story of survival and duty during wartime.
