Cosmo Cat
A short-lived but delightfully oddball Fox title, Cosmo Cat ran for just ten issues in the mid-1940s, blending madcap superhero antics with surreal humor. The series is best remembered for its titular feline hero, a costumed crime-fighter in the spirit of the Blue Beetle (who also appeared in these pages), alongside bizarre supporting players like the monstrous Horroface and the wonderfully named Professor J. Moggerty Fump. The creative team, led by artists Ellis Chambers and Barry, with writers including Pat Adams and the pseudonymous Bi Gones, gave the book a scrappy, energetic charm. While it never reached the heights of its publisher's bigger hits, Cosmo Cat remains a fascinating glimpse into the wacky, anything-goes era of Golden Age comics.
