Frankenstein
Prize · 1945–1954 · 33 issues
About the series
Dick Briefer’s long and distinctive run on Frankenstein for Prize Comics reimagined the classic monster for a new medium, blending horror, humor, and pathos across 33 issues from 1945 to 1954. Initially a grim, brooding figure, Briefer’s creature gradually evolved into a more sympathetic and even comedic character, reflecting the shifting tastes of the era. With occasional scripting help from Bruce Elliott and Ed Goggin, Briefer’s singular artistic vision made this one of the most memorable and enduring monster series of the Golden Age.
