Holiday Comics

Star Publications’ Holiday Comics (1951–1952) was a short-lived, eight-issue anthology that bundled seasonal cheer with the publisher’s signature brand of lively, offbeat adventure. Most frequently written by A. W. Nugent and illustrated by the vivid, often surreal covers of L. B. Cole alongside Al Fago and Nugent himself, the series packaged holiday-themed tales with a pulpy, pre-Code energy. It stands as a snapshot of early-1950s independent comics, where creators could experiment with genre and tone under the looser standards of the era.
