About the series
From 1993 to 1997, Image Comics' Stormwatch redefined the superhero team book, blending high-concept sci-fi with political intrigue. Initially helmed by Jim Lee and Ron Marz, the series followed a UN-sanctioned superhuman strike force—featuring operatives like Jackson King and the enigmatic Henry Bendix—as they grappled with global threats and internal power struggles. Warren Ellis’s later tenure pushed the title toward darker, more cerebral territory, setting the stage for his revolutionary The Authority. Anchored by artists Tom Raney, Renato Arlem, and Mat Broome, Stormwatch remains a pivotal bridge between 1990s Image bombast and the modern deconstruction of the superhero genre.
