Suspense Comics

From 1943 to 1946, Temerson / Helnit / Continental published Suspense Comics, a 12-issue anthology that leaned into the macabre and the mysterious. The series is most remembered for its lurid, eye-catching covers by L. B. Cole, while interior tales from regular artists Don Rico and John Giunta, alongside writers like Jack Grogan and Ray Willner, delivered a mix of horror, crime, and science fiction. A key title in the pre-Code horror boom, it showcased the raw, unbridled creativity of the era before the Comics Code Authority reshaped the industry.
