Terrifying Tales

Star Publications’ Terrifying Tales ran for five issues from 1953 to 1954, a brief but vivid entry in the pre-Code horror boom. The series is most closely associated with the Iger Shop’s polished, atmospheric artwork, including notable contributions from Matt Baker, whose dynamic figures and elegant linework elevated even the most gruesome scenarios. Though short-lived, it captures the raw, unapologetic edge of 1950s horror comics before the industry’s self-censorship tightened.
