The Demon
DC · 1990–1995 · 59 issues
About the series
In the early 1990s, DC revived its supernatural corner with The Demon, a series that followed the reluctant partnership of the immortal sorcerer Jason Blood and the fiery, rhyming demon Etrigan bound within him. Over 59 issues, the title shifted tones and creative teams—from Alan Grant and Val Semeiks' dark fantasy adventures to Garth Ennis and John McCrea's more visceral, blackly comic take, and later Dwayne McDuffie's urban-influenced stories. The series is a key artifact of DC's '90s horror-tinged output, showcasing how different talents could reimagine the same conflicted antihero.
