Mad Doctor Doom
Few villains in Archie Comics carry a name quite as deliciously over-the-top as Mad Doctor Doom, a Silver Age creation who burst onto the scene in 1962's The Adventures of Little Archie #24, dreamed up by the beloved Bob Bolling. For over six decades this gloriously named antagonist has haunted the pages of Archie publications — from Little Archie to Betty & Veronica: Vixens and the sprawling Archie Giant Series Magazine — sharing adventures with icons like Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and Reggie Mantle. With a key issue already to his name and a publishing footprint stretching all the way to 2023, Mad Doctor Doom is a wonderfully campy reminder that Riverdale's world has always had room for genuine menace alongside the milkshakes — and that Bob Bolling's imagination knew no bounds.
