This document comprises military UFO incident reports from January 23, 1953, at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base, Newfoundland. Multiple personnel—officers and airmen from Base Operations, the Weather Detachment, and the 105th AC&W Squadron—visually observed an unusual aerial object for approximately 15 minutes at bearing 270-300 degrees true, estimated altitude not exceeding 4,000 feet. Witnesses described the object as oval-shaped and stationary or moving north/northwest, changing colors from white to red, with some reporting green and yellow. Radar contact failed. Weather conditions showed scattered clouds at 19,000 feet, 10-mile visibility, northeast winds at 5 knots. The preparing officer's analysis concluded the light was likely the planet Venus (magnitude 4.9), with color and movement variations attributable to passing clouds. One report deemed the incident inconclusive due to insufficient data.
