Archie Comics #36
In "Points of Interest," Archie finds himself caught in a mix-up when his mom nudges him to call Veronica—only to accidentally dial Betty Cooper instead. Betty, convinced it's a dream, scrambles to put on her finest white dress, only to be stunned when Archie shows up in flannel and jeans, book in hand. Written by Ray Gill and illustrated by Bill Vigoda, this 1949 classic captures a moment of sweet, awkward teenage tension with a pie-tossing twist, all on a cover by Bill Vigoda.

Veronica's "all tied up", and even though he thinks of Betty like a sister, Archie's mom convinces him to call her for a date. He says "This is Archie! Doing anything tonight, Keed?". She replies, "Er..no..but you must have the wrong number, Archie. This is Betty Cooper speaking!". He says he knows, and she faints. Thinking she's waking from a dream, and then realizing she hasn't, she gets dressed in her best white dress. She's anticipating romance, and Archie shows up in a flannel shirt and jeans, to read a book. Betty gets mad when he won't kiss her goodnight, and throws a pie at his face.
