Black Fury, the wild stallion king, is trapped at last by men who have poisoned the water supply to force him into captivity. Before Black Fury and his band can escape to another range, they must find water, with only one waterhole remaining. The story follows Black Fury's struggle for freedom as the wild horses face the hardship of their trek, culminating in a dramatic confrontation. A separate story, "Frame-Up," features Chad Benson, a former gunslinger released from prison after serving ten years for a crime he didn't commit, who discovers that an enemy named Stan has stolen his prized guns to frame him for murder and must evade the law while tracking the real killer to clear his name.

Drought has gripped the prairie hills, turning wolves and pumas desperate and dangerous as they stalk Black Fury and his family for food. When fences and Marcus's relentless ambition close in on Black Fury's open range, the great wild stallion finds himself trapped and drugged into captivity. Renamed "the Black Devil" for a traveling rodeo, the magnificent stallion wastes away in confinement—until a chance encounter gives an old drifter named Alkali a shot at winning back the freedom they both crave. This 1959 tale captures the clash between the untamed West and those determined to tame it, with two kindred spirits discovering that some things were never meant to be caged.

A desperate man on the run encounters his own uncle—a sheriff pursuing him across the frontier—in this tense confrontation about guilt, family loyalty, and proof. When Logan's horse fails and his gun runs dry, Uncle Ben has him cornered, but doubt creeps in: is the outlaw's son truly involved in the Latigo Bank robbery, or just a victim of his family's reputation? Their standoff becomes a test of whether blood and trust can survive the law.

Paid In Full
7 pp · Animal, Western-Frontier

When a drifter named Pete Mason flees a small town after being falsely accused of stage robbery, he stumbles upon a wild horse camp where the ruthless hunters have trapped Black Fury, the magnificent black stallion who refuses to be broken. Mason's compassion for the trapped horse leads him to intervene—a decision that leaves him beaten and unconscious, only to be rescued by the very animal he tried to save. As Black Fury carries the injured man back to town, the truth about the real criminals emerges, and the stallion proves himself an unlikely hero in the battle for justice.
