Written by Harvey Kurtzman and brought to life by Wally Wood’s dynamic art—both in story and on the cover—this 1953 issue follows a Grumman SA-16 crew as they navigate not just enemy fire, but the unpredictable fury of the sea, testing their skill and resolve in a mission that blurs the line between air and water.

Danklef is of the opinion that the Grumman SA-16 (Albatross) is a plane, not a boat, and while preparing for a bombing run, the radio blares the news of another plane being shot down. They head out to rescue the pilot and, after saving the man, the seaplane encounters very rough waters. By quick thing, the plane rides out the rough waves until measures are taken to get the craft out of the water and into the air.
