The comic opens with an introductory panel on the cover featuring a soldier in a yellow raincoat about to fire a gun, with the caption "Keep your head down, fellow! Get us out of this spot! Temporarily you're a noncombatant in action!" The main story featured is "Infantrymen!", which follows Sergeant Tim Bark and his squad of American soldiers during the Korean War. After being captured and held by North Korean forces, Sergeant Bark devises an escape plan involving the destruction of communication systems and a daring nighttime infiltration. The soldiers successfully escape by crossing the Piu River using an improvised flotation method with waxing compound, and Bark is promoted to Lieutenant for his intelligence and bravery in rescuing fellow prisoners and leading his men to safety.
