“Who's Who on Cobra Island”

In "Who's Who on Cobra Island," Ripcord is captured and brought to Cobra Island, where his disguise as Zartan is nearly exposed when Professor Appel spots Candy's photo on him—leading to a tense revelation about her whereabouts. The G.I. Joes launch a high-stakes rescue, only to find themselves questioning the real identity of the man they've saved, as Spirit notices inconsistencies in his injuries. With Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow closing in on their target and Appel deploying the experimental Firebat, the island becomes a battleground of deception and suspicion. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Rod Whigham, with inks by Andy Mushynsky, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Joe Rosen, the cover by Mike Zeck captures the tension in a striking, dynamic image.

Ripcord (as Zartan) is taken into the new Cobra base on Cobra Island, and Professor Appel discovers the deception when he sees Candy's picture on his person and Ripcord explains to him about where Candy is (or isn't right now). The Joes launch a recon/search and rescue for Ripcord, then rescue him (actually Zartan), but Spirit's suspicious of him when he notices the bullet wound's all wrong. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow land on the island about to get whom they think is Zartan (the Hard Master's killer), when Appel launches the experimental new Firebat, saving Ripcord from harm.
