“No Dates for Dotty”

In "No Dates for Dotty," a 1952 slice of life from Girl Confessions #18, Kitty finds herself caught between two very different men at a remote boxing camp—brutish boxer Marty, whose rough charm hides a softer side, and gentle wanderer Paul, who wins her heart with quiet sincerity. With Bill Everett handling art, inks, and lettering, and Carl Burgos bringing the cover to life, this tender drama unfolds with emotional honesty and a touch of unexpected warmth.

Kitty’s father is the manager of boxer Marty. Marty roughly courts Kitty, but she rejects his brutish ways. Sensitive wanderer Paul shows up at the remote training camp and falls for Kitty. She responds, and defends Paul when Marty jealously attacks him. However, Marty reveals the “tenderness” under his tough exterior, and Kitty decides to marry him after all. Paul will return to his wandering ways.
