This anthology contains three Western stories: "Gunsmoke Stills the Outlaw Guns," in which Jedediah Strong Smith, a fighting pioneer of the West, battles outlaws including Daniel Boone and Kit Carson while traversing hostile Indian territory; "The Masked Marvel" featuring the titular masked defender of justice solving a crime involving wounded bandit Ted Fletcher and banker Caleb Flint's robbery in Dry Gulch, Texas, with $2,000 in gold stolen; and a story involving poker games and mining operations where characters including Annie, Jasper, and Pop Slade contend with criminal schemes at the Slade Mine, with the narrative focusing on Annie's efforts to recover stolen payroll money and pursue the thieves.
