Laugh #3
In "Jack and the Escalator," Jack swaps his prized comic book collection for a batch of magic pizza crusts that inexplicably transform into a working escalator. Up the spiraling stairs, he encounters a vegetarian giant whose partnership leads to some delightfully odd schemes. Written by George Gladir and illustrated by Stan Goldberg, with inks by Rudy Lapick, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this 1987 gem features a delightfully absurd premise brought to life with classic Archie charm. The cover, by Dan DeCarlo, captures the whimsy of the tale in bold, expressive lines.
