“Kisses for Pipo”

In "Kisses for Pipo," Gilbert Hernandez delivers a quiet yet charged chapter in the lives of Luba’s children, Socorro and Joselito, as their impulsive adventure takes them far from home. When the siblings steal a neighbor’s car to follow Luba one night, their journey into the countryside ends in a crash—forcing them to rely on a stranger, Hector, to get back before their mother returns. With Hernandez’s signature blend of intimacy and understated tension, the story captures the weight of small choices and the fragile line between rebellion and belonging, all rendered in his distinctive, expressive style.
