MAD's December 2011 issue takes on The Walking Dead with the magazine's signature nerve — Alfred E. Neuman's grinning head sits atop a picked-clean, blood-dripping skeleton while a horde of grotesque, snarling zombies crowd in from every direction, apparently having just finished the job. It's a wonderfully gruesome gag that captures both the dread of the show and Alfred's utterly unshakeable obliviousness. Rounding out the cover's promise are teasers for Spy vs. Spy, Planet Tad, a 2012 pull-out calendar, and features on the Zit Hall of Fame, Snappy Answers, and the Apocalypse — so there's plenty of MAD mayhem beyond the undead.
