Marvel Comics Presents #37
In "Having a Wild Weekend Part 7: Dragon in Distress," T'Challa confronts the past in a tense, emotional showdown that reshapes his understanding of his mother’s disappearance. Written by Don McGregor and brought to life with moody, expressive art by Gene Colan, this pivotal chapter sees T'Challa finally reunite with Ramonda, uncovering the truth behind her imprisonment at the hands of Anton Pretorius. The story’s weight is matched by Tom Palmer’s inks and Mike Rockwitz’s subtle coloring, all anchored by Joe Rosen’s sharp lettering—while Dave Cockrum’s cover captures the moment’s intensity in bold, dynamic lines.

T'Challa frees himself from Gore's grasp. Gore attempts to gut T'Challa with his knife but fails and stabs himself in the throat, dying from the massive injury. T'Challa makes his way to Anton Pretorius' house and finally finds Ramonda, his mother. Ramonda tells him how, when he was a small child, she came to South Africa for her father's funeral. During her time there she joined a protest against the police and was arrested. Pretorius freed her and made her "disappear," imprisoning her in his home. T'Challa confronts Pretorius but decides not to kill him and leaves with Ramonda for Wakanda.
