In "Peculiar Pets," a lab accident gives several animals odd new looks, and Richie takes them for a walk—only to realize he needs to write a school paper. He brings the strange creatures along as he works, unaware that Reggie is planning to scare him with a monster costume to inspire his own assignment. When Reggie shows up in full disguise, he’s the one who ends up startled by the transformed animals. The creatures return to normal, and both boys find fresh ideas for their papers.
