Sid Jacobson
Sidney Jacobson was born on October 20, 1929, and died on July 23, 2022. He is best known as the longtime managing editor and editor-in-chief of Harvey Comics, where he shaped the company’s all-ages line during its 1950s–60s heyday. Jacobson began his career in children’s comic books, later branching into popular music, fiction, and biography. At Harvey, he oversaw the creation of enduring characters like Richie Rich and Casper the Friendly Ghost, working closely with artists such as Warren Kremer. In his later years, Jacobson formed a notable partnership with artist Ernie Colón, co-writing the acclaimed nonfiction graphic novels *The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation* and *Anne Frank: The Anne Frank House Authorized Graphic Biography*. These works brought his storytelling skills to a new generation of readers. Jacobson’s credits in our catalog span 1955 to 2009, including colorist and writer work on titles like *Labyrinth: The Movie*, *The Nine Lives of Felix the Cat*, and *Hot Stuff*. He received no major awards in his lifetime, but his contributions to children’s comics and graphic nonfiction remain influential.
