“Carnival Capers”

In "Carnival Capers," Sabrina, the Teenage Witch #21 (1974), Sabrina tries to convince herself she’s not jealous of Harvey’s romantic prospects—until her magic takes a mischievous turn. With a mix of spells and mischief, she ensures every girl who shows interest in Harvey ends up in increasingly bizarre and dramatic situations, all while keeping her own feelings under wraps. Written by Frank Doyle and illustrated by Stan Goldberg, with inks by Jon D'Agostino, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, the issue’s cover by Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick captures the zany energy of Sabrina’s spellbound antics.

While claiming she's not jealous of Harvey and that he must have freedom to date whomever he wants, Sabrina uses witchcraft to make sure that any girl who expresses interest in Harvey suffers an unspeakable fate: she causes one girl to get her own private thunderstorm, dumps garbage on another girl, and ends by turning girls into frogs or making the earth swallow them up.
