May 1993 · Marvel · 2.50 USD; 3.15 CAD
“Welcome to Hades!”

In "Welcome to Hades!", Jim Starlin delivers a dark, emotionally charged chapter as Mephisto ensnares Adam Warlock in a cocoon of solid ash, testing the limits of sacrifice and redemption. With the Silver Surfer offering his soul in desperation—only to be rejected by Mephisto, who sees through his fallen grace—the Infinity Watch arrives too late to stop the tide of despair. But when Warlock breaks free, his defiance ignites a new confrontation that redefines the stakes in this battle for Shalla Bal’s soul. The story, illustrated with haunting precision by Starlin and inked by Terry Austin, features a cover by Starlin that captures the grim intensity of the moment.

Mephisto traps Adam Warlock in a cocoon of solid ash. The Silver Surfer offers his soul in exchange for Shalla Bal's, but he's not the saintly soul that he once was and Mephisto declines. The rest of the Infinity Watch show up but are defeated in short order. But then Warlock escapes the trap and challenges Mephisto for Shalla Bal's soul.
