Tales to Astonish #65
In "The New Giant-Man," Bruce Banner’s latest transformation into the Hulk takes a dramatic turn when a clash with the Humanoids sends him plunging into the ocean—only to be captured by a Russian submarine. Trapped and facing forced labor, Banner’s resolve hardens, and when he reverts to his monstrous form, he’s not just fighting for freedom, but for survival against a weaponized proton gun. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated with eerie precision by Steve Ditko, with inks by Dick Ayers and letters by S. Rosen, this 1965 tale delivers a tense, high-stakes showdown. The cover, by Jack Kirby and Chic Stone, captures the moment of crisis with striking dynamism.
