Jan 2004 · DC · 2.50 USD; 3.85 CAD
“Foundations, Part Three”

In "Foundations, Part Three," the Legion faces a cosmic threat as Brainiac 5 stays behind to defuse a bomb at the Time Institute while Invisible Kid pursues the invaders through a Boom Tube. As the team regroups, they discover the universe itself is shrinking—drained of dark matter by a vast network of stargates funneling energy into a colossal Boom Tube. Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with art by Chris Batista and inks by Chip Wallace and Andy Lanning, this pivotal issue sees the Legion racing against time to uncover the source of the mystery. The cover, a dynamic collaboration by Tom Feister and Tony Harris, captures the scale of the impending crisis.

Brainiac 5 and Invisible Kid are unable to stop the invaders at the Time Institute, so Invisible Kid follows them out through their Boom Tube, while Brainiac 5 stays behind to deal with the bomb they left. After the Legion cleans up at the Time Institute, Brainiac 5 determines that the universe is shrinking. Invisible Kid explains this phenomenon, when he determines that the dark figures are sucking the dark matter out of the universe. The Legion rushes to help Invisible Kid and learns that the dark matter being gathered by thousands of stargates is being shunted into a giant Boom Tube.
