Turok, Son of Stone #8

In "Dinosaur of the Deep," Turok and Andar face rising waters in the Carlsbad canyons, forced to build a raft and rescue cliff-dwellers stranded on the mesa. As they learn to fish and defend their new refuge, a prehistoric elasmosaur emerges from the depths, threatening their fragile safety. With Ski-Yu at their side, Turok must protect his companions as the dam breaks and the waters recede—leaving the cliff-dwellers free to return home.

In "Danger at the Nest," a Mother Pteranodon faces a deadly threat when a Hungry Dimetrodon climbs toward her hatching young. With quick thinking, she feigns injury to lure the predator away, sacrificing her own flight to protect her nest. Though she escapes, her true test comes when she returns to find her family anew—vulnerable, hungry, and in need of her strength once more.

In "Turok Seeks the Trail to Freedom," Turok and Andar press on through treacherous cliffs, their journey tested when Andar injures his ankle. With no path forward, Turok forges a new way—breaking a wild horse he names Wind Racer to help his friend move. As they take shelter from a Dimetrodon and a sudden earthquake seals their escape, Turok climbs to the canyon’s peak, only to find the way back blocked. With Ski-Yu and Wind Racer still near, hope hangs in the balance.

In "The Tools of Early Men," a young man and his wife navigate the rhythms of prehistoric life, mastering simple but vital tools—stone choppers, flint blades, bone needles, and antler spearheads—each crafted with care to meet the demands of survival. Through six clear, informative panels, the story captures the quiet ingenuity of early humans shaping their world with what they had at hand.
