About the series
From 1956 to 1962, Dell Comics published Turok, Son of Stone, a 27-issue series that followed two Native American brothers, Turok and Andar, who become trapped in a mysterious, dinosaur-filled valley after a cave-in. Written primarily by Gaylord Du Bois and Paul S. Newman, with art by Rex Maxon, Ray Bailey, and Bob Fujitani, the series became a landmark of pre-Marvel adventure comics, blending prehistoric survival with pulp-style action. Its sustained popularity helped establish the "lost world" genre in comics and laid the groundwork for the character's later prominence at other publishers.
